Theatre “Danny & Dessi” - City Center Sofia

Theatre “Danny & Dessi” has existed since 1995 as a private company. So far we have 15 different shows in our programme. Three of them have been broadcast on the National Bulgarian Television in “Good night, children!”.

The group has participated in more than 50 international festivals in Bulgaria, Turkey, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, Austria, Romania, Poland, Germany, Portugal, China and Mexico, from which it has a lot of diplomas and awards.

In 2002 the theatre presented Bulgarian culture in Europe within the Europalia Project in Brussels, Belgium. It is a great honour for us to have been chosen to open the International Festival “Figuero” in Gent, Belgium and the XXth International Puppet Festival “Rosete Aranda” in Mexico, the International Puppet Festival in Stara Zagora and in Pazardjhik, Bulgaria and the International Puppet Festival in Portugal. In May 2009 Tania Evtimova was awarded for Best Actress for her acting in “Thumbelina” at the International Festival “The Magic Curtain” in Targovishte, Bulgaria.

In September 2009 the theatre took part in the International Puppet Festival “Two Are Too Few, Three Are Too Many” in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, where the Netherlands jury of the festival awarded the group with the special award for “New Ideas and Experiments in Puppetry”. The jury of the Ist Shanghai International Puppet Festival in Shanghai, China (November 2009) awarded Theatre “Danny & Dessi” the “Golden Magnolia for Best Visual Art” and “Golden Magnolia for Best Performance” to Tania Evtimova for her acting in “Princess Little Drop”.

At the International Festival “The Magic Curtain 2010” in Targovishte, Bulgaria, Theatre “Danny & Dessi” won the award for Precisely created and made stage design and puppets, classically performed acting, theatre techniques, sound and original music in the performance “The Frog King”.
